Thursday afternoon presented a fair number of challenges, with cool temperatures, off-and-on rain, timing system malfunctions, and strong competition. Despite all of these obstacles, the girls’ track and field team still came away with some solid performances.
Sophomore Bree Mahoney-Sutherland was the lone Eagle winner, placing first place in the women’s shot put. Bree has been strong all season in the throwing events, and this Thursday was no different. As the season progresses, we expect to see continued success from Bree in the field events.
On the track we had numerous personal or season records. Among those seeing the most improvement was freshman Lilly Vittetow. Lilly improved her 100m Hurdles time by nearly three seconds (the official results have Lilly’s time and place recorded inaccurately), and she also knocked three seconds off of her split for the 1600m Relay.
The Eagles T&F teams will next be competing at Cascade on Tuesday, April 9 at 4:30 PM.
