The SP T&F teams traveled to Cascade Tuesday afternoon, and the great weather provided the opportunity to set quite a few personal records. Although the girls lost the meet, there were quite a few positives to take from the action.
In the field events, PR’s came crashing down. Bree Mahoney Sutherland continued her dominance in the Shot with a first place finish and a huge PR. She improved her personal best by nearly two feet. Fellow sophomore Brooke Robertson also left the meet with two PRs in the throwing events – improving her Discus throw by over a foot and her shot by nearly two feet. In the Long Jump, freshman Lilly Vittetow made her outdoor debut and won the event with a solid jump. Lilly carried her momentum from the field to the track as she then went on to improve her hurdle PRs with second place finishes in both the 100m and 300m Hurdles
Perhaps the standout performer of the night on the track was junior Alex Bratcher. She saw improvement in both the 100m and 200m races where she finished 2nd and 3rd. Though she didn’t get the win, her competitiveness and drive helped her to come away with two strong personal best times. She wasn’t done there, however. Alex also made her season debut in the 1600m Relay where she ran the fastest split for the team. Overall, it was a great night on the track for Alex.
Other great performances include Bayli Clampitt’s first place finish in the 400m. Bayli knocked nearly two seconds off of her previous best time. Fellow freshman Sarah Jones continued her strong, consistent distance racing with a first place finish in her 3200m debut. She also came away with a new PR split in the 3200m Relay. Lone senior Samara Young also ran a PR split in the 3200m Relay and then came back to win the 1600m.
The next Eagles T&F meet will be at South Putnam on Thursday against Eminence and North Putnam , starting at 5:00 PM.
