After some steady rain, the SPXC teams were able to compete in the annual Eagle-Clover Classic under some wet but cooler weather conditions. In the end, both teams were able to run away with the win.
In the boys’ race, Austin Rumley and Karl Egold were able to get the team off to a great start by finishing first and second. Helping to round out the boys’ score and seal the win were Eric Hinkle, Andrew Carr, and Eli Smith, finishing 4th, 6th, and 10th place. The boys won with a score of 23 to 32 against the Clovers.
For the girls’ race, freshman Lilly Vittetow led the girls with a 4th place finish. Because Cloverdale only have four female competitors, they were unable to field a complete team and the Lady Eagles won by default.
Both teams will next be in action on Saturday, Aug. 25 at the Danville Hokum Karem. This meet is scheduled to begin at 9 AM with the girls’ race.
