In their 2019 debut, South’s Boys provided plenty of encouraging individual and relay performances to build off of for this season. In the field events, Kain Gregory won the high jump; Trey Blaydes finished second in the long jump; Demetrius Leo, Connor Hilburn, and Parker Hacker placed first, second, and third respectively in discus; And Hilburn and Kole Bemish finished second and third in shot put.
Out on the track, there were several stellar performances for this early in the season. In the sprints, Lucas Bach finished second in the 100, while Kain Gregory and Trey Blaydes placed first and third in the 200. In mid-distance and distance, Daniel Johnson won the 400, Austin Rumley won the 800, Andrew Carr won the 1600, and Eric Hinkle and Clay Cash placed first and third in the 3200.
Also, The Eagles swept the relays on the evening with solid performances from various athletes who stepped up in lieu of those whom were out or injured. Overall, it was a great start to the season for the track and field team whom look to make great strides in improvement this season.
