It was a great morning for a cross country meet, and the SPXC teams came ready to race. The girls’ ran first and were led by junior Sarah Jones. Sarah ran a strong, smart race to finish in 4th place and earn an All-County spot. Hope Taylor ran really well the second half of the race and continually moved up until finishing in the top-10. Right behind Hope was Lilly Vittetow in 11th place. Bayli Clampitt and Ava McHugh each ran strong races from start to finish, rounding out the team scoring for a close 4th place finish.
The boys raced next, and they also had some strong performances. Sophomore Dunkin York again led the way for the boys’ team. After a fast start, Dunkin cruised with the chase pack and managed to battle his way to an impressive 2nd place finish. Freshman Keaton Chew continued to do what he does best, which is fight hard over the last mile, and he came away with a great 6th place finish. Dunkin and Keaton each earned All-County honors. Rounding out the scoring for SP was Brett Wiggins, Matt Rogers, and Evan Hinkle, each doing their part to help the boys team come away with a third place finish.
