The swimmers were back in action at the pool last night in a dual meet with Edgewood. Both teams came away with a win (112-67 for the girls and 113-61 for the boys) while doing a great job of implementing newly learned skills in their races. The athletes saw multiple season and lifetime best times over the course of the meet. Particular stand-out races were those coming from Evvie Timberman, Keeli Pastore, Kendra Young and Keira Wells.
Evvie raced aggressively in the 200 and 100 free, earning first place finishes in both and swimming a lifetime best time in the 200 and a season best time in the 100. Keeli also had two great individual event swims, winning the 50 free and 100 backstroke and swimming lifetime bests in both. Kendra had an incredible race in the 100 backstroke and was rewarded with an almost six second time drop from her previous best. Keira Wells did an fantastic job of finishing the back half of her races strong and exercising good underwater skills, helping her 400 free relay team seal a first place finish to end the meet.
For the guys’ team, Eric Hinkle did an awesome job of energizing the team and had a great race in the 100 back, narrowly missing first place but swimming a lifetime best. Daniel Johnson (pictured above) was strong in the water as well, with season best times near personal bests in both the 200IM and 100 breaststroke.
The Eagles will race again next Thursday against the West Vigo Vikings at the Vigo County Aquatic Center.
