Varsity Baseball · Early Lead For Sullivan Seals Fate For South

The Varsity baseball team watched the game slip away early and couldn’t recover in a 20-2 loss to Sullivan on Tuesday. Sullivan scored on a single by Jack Conner – JR, a walk by Karter Vernelson – SO, a sacrifice fly by Kyle Vernelson – SO, an error, and a double by Shane Garner. – SR in the first inning.

The Eagles struggled to put runs on the board and had a tough time defensively containing Sullivan, giving up 20 runs.

South Putnam fired up the offense in the first inning, scoring one run on a stolen base.

Sullivan scored eight runs in the third inning. Sullivan’s big inning was driven by doubles by Conner – JRBrayton Foster – SOChris Taylor – SR, and Garner. – SR and singles by Cam Walters – SO and Alex Cooks – JR.

Braedon Nichols – SO was credited with the victory for Sullivan. He lasted five innings, allowing four hits and two runs while striking out six and walking zero.

Dylan Crum took the loss for South. He allowed two hits and six runs.

Tanner Pistelli led the Eagles Varsity with two hits in two at bats.

Sullivan racked up 11 hits. Garner. – SRTaylor – SR, and Conner – JR all managed multiple hits for Sullivan. Garner. – SR went 3-for-3 at the plate to lead Sullivan in hits.
