Thursday was a long day for South Putnam Eagles Varsity, falling to Covenant Christian 12-5.
South Putnam Eagles Varsity took an early lead in the second inning. Aidan LeBlanc doubled on a 1-2 count, scoring two runs.
In the top of the third inning, Covenant Christian tied things up at three when Jackson Woodinduced DJ Boggs to hit into a fielder’s choice, but one run scored.
Covenant Christian took the lead for good with one run in the fourth inning. In the fourth Dylan Reichert singled on a 2-0 count, scoring one run.
South Putnam Eagles Varsity tallied three runs in the second inning. South Putnam Eagles Varsity big bats were led by Dylan Crum and LeBlanc, who all drove in runs.
Covenant Christian scored four runs in the sixth inning. Conner Krizan, Boggs, and Brennan Moran each drove in runs during the inning.
Spencer Tinkey earned the win for Covenant Christian. He surrendered five runs on eight hits over six innings, striking out seven. Moran threw one inning in relief out of the bullpen.
Wood took the loss for South Putnam Eagles Varsity. He went three and a third innings, allowing four runs on six hits, striking out two and walking one.
South Putnam Eagles Varsity racked up eight hits. Dawson Cash and Wood each collected multiple hits for South Putnam Eagles Varsity. Cash led South Putnam Eagles Varsity with three hits in three at bats.
Covenant Christian totaled 12 hits. Krizan, Jackson Prather, and Moran each had multiple hits for Covenant Christian. Krizan went 3-for-4 at the plate to lead Covenant Christian in hits.
