After losing last year’s number one singles Adie Clifford and number three singles Meredith Trump, I’ve looked forward to seeing who will step up to take their spots. It’s always a relief when someone steps in to fill the empty spots which is the case with Gitte DeVreede, Kaylee Hubbard and Stephany Zhivotovsky. Gitte and Stephany both played really well. Kaylee started out really well, but midway through her match developed back spasms. I am extremely proud of how she fought through the pain despite the loss. Number one doubles struggled a bit but Greencastles Newgent/Ramey proved to be too much to overcome. I am proud of two doubles as it was their first time together; Hannah’s second year of varsity doubles and Brianna’s first year of tennis. Both girls impressed me very much. We had some very close matches, as is the norm with rival Greencastle. I have known Coach Munoz from her days at Turkey Run; she will always have her team ready to compete. No rest, as we battle the cold and the Sullivan Golden Arrows on Saturday. I am extremely proud of our JV players coming away with the win. I am excited about the future of South Putnam Lady Eagles Tennis.
